This news is so new, so fresh, so hot off the proverbial presses that Syfy has yet to offer a press release, but you need to hear it now.  What is possibly the most visually stunning show ever to appear on television, The Expanse, has been renewed by Syfy for a 13-episode 3rd season to premiere in 2018 according to Deadline.

Quoted from the article at Deadline.com:

“The Expanse is a gorgeous, thrilling, emotional series that has quite simply raised the bar for science fiction on television,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We, along with the fans, are looking forward to continuing the journey with our partners at Alcon Television Group and the series’ brilliant cast and crew.”

Sadly, The Expanse isn’t getting the viewers a show of such high quality deserves, although it’s apparently getting enough to warrant a 3rd season renewal.  Hopefully with this news will come a raft of new viewers.  If you haven’t seen the show, you’re missing out on a sweeping space drama that’s beautiful to look at, has characters that feel like real people, and some of the best writing you’ll find anywhere.  If you’ve yet to see the show, you can catch season 1 in its entirety on Amazon Video.  Prime members watch for no extra charge, so you really have no excuse.

The Expanse season 2 is currently airing Wednesdays on Syfy and Space
